Soko

Soko is an ethical fast fashion brand that leverages design and mobile innovation to provide women with accessories that are on trend, affordable, and handmade from ethically sourced materials by bottom of pyramid (BoP) artisans in the developing world. We utilize a networked production model, using data flows to crowdsource marginalized production talent into an ethical and transparent “virtual factory” comprised of independent, distributed artisans.Soko’s commitment to ethical production and social impact is embedded in our business. Our demand responsive and flexible supply chain is so efficient that while consumers pay less, artisans earn more, retaining an unprecedented 30% of revenue. Within months of joining Soko, many artisans increase their income by 4x. Soko has worked with nearly 1,000 BoP artisans in and around Nairobi. Having contributed over USD 650,000 in artisan revenue in the past 12 months. Soko’s impact goes beyond our artisans to create a systematic shift in the way that consumers buy goods to be more sustainable, ethical and connected. Our commitment to ethical production, quality, and design has led to growing demand for our products from companies including Nordstrom and Anthropologie, hundreds of boutiques, and tens of thousands of online consumers.
