Ann is Senior Vice President, Corporate Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer at Biogen Idec. Biogen Idec is the oldest independent biotechnology company in the world, with a primary focus on researching and developing therapies to serve unmet medical needs. Ann is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing the Biogen Idec Corporate Compliance Program for the global organization. Prior to working with Biogen Idec, Ann led the global corporate compliance functions for Novartis Pharma AG and Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics. She also held legal and compliance positions with other large and mid-sized pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including Sepracor Inc., Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Genzyme Corporation. In the course of her practice, Ann has provided fraud and abuse legal analysis, reviewed and developed policies for interactions with healthcare practitioners, implemented Compliance Program procedures; developed Codes of Conduct, and advised on U.S. and European Union privacy issues. She has lectured to a variety of groups on healthcare compliance and privacy issues as they impact bio/pharmaceutical and device companies. Ann received her BA from the University of Tulsa and her JD degree from Northeastern University School of Law. Ann is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. She is a Board Member of the ETHICS professional society for compliance officers operating in the life sciences sector. She is a co-chair for an annual professional congress held for life sciences compliance professionals in Europe, Middle East and Africa. She is a regular guest lecturer at the INSEAD Health Compliance Leadership Consortium Programme in Fountainbleau, France.
