Ali Mayer worked for a Human Resources consulting firm in Boston before starting her entrepreneurial journey with a move to Colorado. Her first venture involved the purchase and turnaround of Verbatim Booksellers, an independent bookstore in Vail, CO, which she managed for close to six years before selling it to a colleague/employee whom she had personally mentored. Following that sale, Ali launched Ambajam, a high-end line of children’s blankets and accessory products, which received accolades from both Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres, among others. Through Ambajam, Ali started a program called The Cuddle-up Campaign, which provided blankets to vulnerable and disadvantaged children domestically and internationally. After over eight years in business, Ali closed Ambajam to pursue her interest in health and wellness receiving a certification in integrative nutrition health coaching. Ali is currently a leader with Real Life Book Club, an organization dedicated to building community among women through personal development and empowerment. Additionally, Ali serves on the board of her family’s foundation, The Mayer-Phillips Foundation, which works to support young and/or entrepreneurial nonprofits seeking to effect long-term systemic change. Ali holds a BA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University, has spent sixteen years living overseas, in Europe and Asia, and has happily made her home in Colorado since 1998.
